Frey Helps Secure Grant For Ridgefield Playhouse
HARTFORD- State Representative John H. Frey (R-111th) today lauded a $15,000 state grant received by The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and Performing Arts. The funding came as part of the Arts Jobs program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, and was made possible by federal stimulus funds and the National Endowment for the Arts.
“I am very pleased that The Ridgefield Playhouse has been granted these funds to maintain entertainment, educational, and outreach programming for our community,” said Rep. Frey. “This grant has enabled The Playhouse to maintain a full-time Marketing Manager tasked with promoting Playhouse productions in an economic environment where ticket sales, sponsorships, and foundation support have all been declining. This is a victory for Ridgefield and will ensure that The Playhouse can continue to operate in spite of the economic challenges we face.”
Rep. Frey was instrumental in advocating for the grant to State officials tasked with distributing federal stimulus funds. Playhouse Executive Director Allison Stockel and Board of Trustees President Jeremiah Miller signed a joint letter in praise of Frey’s efforts on behalf of the organization:
“This funding will enable us to keep this [Marketing Manager] position full-time, rather than converting it to part-time to save money,” they wrote. “We are greatful for that support and know that it will make a big difference as we try to get through these challenging economic times.”
